All non-recurring, non-full-day events created in SW now show up on the Palm on the ending time

All non-recurring, non-full-day events created in SW or Outlook now show up on the Palm on the ending time with 0 hours duration. example: an event that has a beginning time of 5:00 and ending time of 6:30 shows up on the Palm with both the beginning and ending time set to 6:30. I have two Palms running Synthesis 3.0.2.22. My wife's hasn't been synced in some time and it's events are correct. The exact same events when synced to mine are showing this behavior. The Synthesis client hasn't changed so something must have been introduced on the server. When she gets home I can check the log on hers to find out when it was synced, but it was around 8 - 10 days ago.

Re:All non-recurring, non-full-day events created in SW now show up on the Palm on the ending time

Correct. I just created an event in SW called "Test event" beginning 11:00am ending 11:30. Synced to my phone and it begins and ends at 11:30 on the phone. If I change it on the phone or create events on the phone and sync again, all is ok.

I've also noticed that if I create the event in Outlook with an alarm, the alarm minutes are changed on the Palm to some larger number (haven't figured out a pattern yet, but a 30 minute alarm changed to a 90 minute alarm).

Does it have anything to do with my "Ignores DST" or "Localtime" settings for the device?

I did it at 11:00 am central time, right before I posted the last message.

By the way, any event that gets modified in Outlook also shows up with this problem once it is updated on the Palm. I hadn't previously noticed it because the only modifications I had done in Outlook were from dismissing event alarms (which reminds me of another problem regarding alarms getting turned back on again, but that's an Outlook issue)

More info - It's not just non-recurring events. It has happened on a recurring event now also. I have an event called "Kids 4 Sport" that is 4pm Monday and Wednesday, beginning July 21 for 4 weeks. It has an alarm that is set for 30 minutes prior. When I dismiss the alarm in Outlook, it syncs the event back to SW. When I sync the Palm, it eliminates the recurrence on the Palm entirely, changes the start time to 5pm and changes the alarm to 90 minutes.

There are no time zones in play as it's the 'localtime' format. The data sent to your device is correct.
There is nothing wrong with the data SWorld is sending.
Now that you have the exact bytes that SWorld is sending, you can show this to the Synthesis folks. It's in their court now.
If they need me to do anything differently for their client please pass that info along and I'll do it.
It's strange that others are not having this issue with the Synthesis client. It almost looks like one of those weird 'uninstall, then re-install' solutions might work.

Wish I could be more help.

Cheers.

Re:All non-recurring, non-full-day events created in SW now show up on the Palm on the ending time

It's not a re-install issue. I just today received a brand new Centro (which caused the dreaded full sync, see my post in Outlook issues). I downloaded the 3.0.2.22 client directly from Synthesis and did a full sync to the Centro using the "reload device" option for contacts, events, tasks, and notes. All of the non-recurring items sync with the wrong time.

Also, this was working on the 3.0.2.22 client on July 9th. And the 3.0.2.22 client works fine with my Funambol server. I still have the phone that synced correctly on July 9th. I haven't synced it since so it still has the log intact. I could try a sync from this phone if you'd like but I have to go through the dreaded full sync issues again.

Do you happen to know a shortcut to get through to their support?

Can you check to see how may people you have using the 3.0.2.22 client with SW.

It is possible they released a new version and didn't bump the version number.

I'm sure you already did this, but make sure your settings are the same for both phones.

Maybe you really shouldn't be using 'localtime'. I don't know. Maybe play around with the localtime and DST options.

I don't have a shortcut, but in my experience they are quick to respond to whatever channel they mention on their website.

Cheers.

Re:All non-recurring, non-full-day events created in SW now show up on the Palm on the ending time

Ok, here's something....
When I enter a note in the notes field, the begin time syncs correctly. I just (12:39am cdt) synced two events to my palm.
Aug 11 8am-8:30am, titled "Test with no note"
Aug 12 8am-8:30am, titled "Test with note"
Can you look at the logs and tell me what is the difference in what SW is sending for these two events?

Also I noticed I am not getting any notes or categories on the Palm. These fields seem to only sync one-way. This also explains why most events were working previously. Some sync tool (maybe not SW) caused bunches of @ signs and other characters to be put in the notes fields of all of my events. I just recently cleaned out all of these and that's what caused me to notice the time problem.

Also, I'm not getting any response from Synthesis so thanks for contacting them. Maybe we'll get somewhere.

Notes don't have a time.

Definitely not SW.

This is too time consuming. I need your SWorld username. If you don't want to post it in the forums then don't use the forums - use email instead and include your username in every email.

Synthesis has responded: use support@synthesis.ch or their forums.

Well, good job finding the cause of this problem (and workaround).
It looks to me like Synthesis introduced a bug in the version you are using. Please email the details to support@synthesis.ch.

Maybe you could delete your copy and use the version you installed on your other device - or maybe you could download an older version of the client if they are available.
