I am getting an error code 418 pretty consistently now.
Here's what I did --
-wiped out all my calendar info on both Google and SW.
-unchecked "Automatically sync with this Google Calendar at the start of a SyncML sync." on SW.
-did a "reload server" on SW.
-Synced SW data to Google after checking "Google sync mode: one-way replace Google Calendar".
-added an event on my Google Calendar.
-Tried to sync at 4:43 PM EST.
My userid is 24391.
I am using Synthesis SyncML Client PRO for PalmOS, version 2.9.9.8 on a Palm TX.
Any idea what's up?

The timeout is set to 20 minutes and your sync has a span of no activity for 22 minutes. Maybe that's it.
I suggest you sync your device to/from SW first, then sync to Google manually. Then, do things automatically after that as future syncs should happen quickly.
Cheers.

I finally have a resolution on the 418 error.
First, it's a bug in how ScheduleWorld handles suspend and resume.
Synthesis was kind enough to tell me how to work around this:
(On the Synthesis client)
Just change the sync mode to something different in the client settings, exit the setting with OK and then change the sync mode back. Note that this is also documented in the manual on page 17.
Cheers.

Hm. This was working for me, and now it's not. My syncs are hanging and getting the 418 error again. Any changes?

What seems to work is to click the 'delete events and todos' button or using the 'Wipe LDAP Contacts' option - depending if the 418 is stuck on events or contacts. It takes a slow sync to get back but it should work again after that.
Cheers.

I can't seem to stop getting this error code 418.
Palm Treo650, synthesis client 3.0.2.8.
If I change the sync mode and change it back, and delete the data from scheduleworld, and do a slow sync, it works, but the next time I try to sync I seem to get the error code 418 again.
I'm getting this with both contacts and events.
My user id is 35848.

The logs have no errors for your syncs. I'm surprised the 418 workaround isn't working. Without any errors in the logs I'm not sure how to help. Any chance you could try the process again?
Cheers.

I had gotten 418's several times just before posting that message to the forum. I haven't been able to get it to happen again today.
Any idea what that code actually means from the synaptic client? The doc explains some other error codes, but not that one. Maybe it would help me figure out what's triggering this for me.

iirc the Synthesis client author explained this to me. 418 is an 'already exists' error. In some case - perhaps a dupe detection mismatch - an event is initially marked as new, but during the sync process is found to already exist. Since I don't seem to be getting the error with other clients (and I can't reproduce it in my dev environment) I'm stuck atm.
Cheers.

It's back. I got a 511 a little while ago when the scheduleworld server was having problems, and now I'm getting 418s on contacts, events, and tasks. I think the only other thing I've done since it last worked was create a few new events and tasks.

Okay, I changed the sync mode for Events from normal to slow, saved the settings, then changed it back to normal, and the sync worked. That makes me think the problem is on synaptic's side, since I didn't change anything at scheduleworld to get this working.
Then I tried contacts again (without touching settings) and got an error code 19999! Haven't seen that before. I think it was set to "update server" when I tried that. I changed it to normal, then slow, then normal again, and tried again, but am back to 418 for contacts.

A posting on the synthesis forums suggested setting the synthesis client to use SynCML 1.1, and since I did that yesterday, I haven't seen a 418.
But I'm wondering if this is going to lead to problems down the road?

Interesting.
SyncML 1.1 will always be supported afaik. I can't think of a reason to ever not support it.
Cheers.

What worked for me:
I'm using Synthesis SyncML Client STD for Windows Mobile PocketPC
Version 3.0.2.10
In Settings > Organization
Change each setting for Contacts, Events, Tasks to update device
Synchronize.. items were deleted and updated from server (CAUTION! Make sure the server has all your information)
Went fine.
When this was done I changed the Server Version to : SyncML 1.1, clicked OK.. then went back to MAKE SURE the setting took.
Changed the Organization settings back to Normal.
Synced fine!

I am getting this error with a Treo 650 and Synthesis SyncML Client STD for PalmOS 3.0.2.19.
I am doing a slow sync of 'card' (i.e. contacts) only, and the error occurs at Sent: 124/1057 every time I try.
This Treo contains a new addressbook I have not tried to upload before - many of the contacts have never been in my scheduleworld account before.
How can I work round this? I only need to upload my Treo contacts once correctly and then I am going to ditch the device for something less antiquated.
