There are several different issues related to doing a "full sync"
1. For some reason the server requests a full sync each time I add a or if I'm reloading everything from scratch, it asks for full sync after loading the third client. I started by using Outlook's recovery mode to overwrite the server. I went to my next Outlook client and used the recovery mode to overwrite Outlook from the server. I went to my Synthesis Palm client and did what it calls "reload device" which is the same thing, overwriting everything on the palm. On the next sync from an Outlook client, it says the server is requesting a full sync. I don't see why it would need a full sync at this point.
2. Notes: During a full sync, all Notes are duplicated
3. Events: During a full sync, all full day items are duplicated
4. Contacts: During a full sync, all contacts are deleted and reloaded from the server. At least one contact is duplicated each time.
5. Tasks: Good news, tasks seem to sync properly during a full sync.

I'm aware of the bug where the server does a single unnecessary slow sync. It has a low priority atm.
My nightly unit tests show that when it happens, no duplicates are created for any URI type.
In steps 2-4, which client is doing this?
Also, please post your username so I can copy your data and run some tests against it in my dev environment.
Cheers.

This is with Outlook only. Let's call them Outlook client 1, client 2, and client 3. I deleted all of my device profiles in SW then started from scratch in Outlook client 1. I did a recovery sync from Outlook client 1 --> SW. I then did a recovery sync from SW to Outlook clients 2 and 3. When I did a normal sync on Outlook client 1 it insisted on doing a full sync and produced all of the duplicates.
I'll email you my id

I added a new palm phone today and the slow sync was requested from the server the next time my Outlook client synced. Again a few contacts are duplicated, most notes are duplicated and all events with annual recurrences are duplicated. Tasks worked fine with no duplicates.
This time, the next synchronization cleaned up the duplicate calendar
I have no idea why the numbers don't match up though. I'm going to have to go through these manually and find out what's missing or duplicated.
Other anomalies I'm noticing:
1. An event that recurs every other Thursday night at 6:30pm is now changed to Tuesday on both SW and Outlook and is duplicated in Outlook. I suspect this is the old math error causing the item to be on the wrong day. If I had other clients to full sync they would probably cause it to move another day back.
2. The same contacts that were duplicated before are again duplicated.
What a mess...

I could not reproduce this with my test data.
There are many cases where Outlook lies about what it saves. Then during a slow sync the data that Outlook has rewritten (without telling anyone) doesn't match and causes a dupe. A lot of work has been done to resolve this automatically but a few more things need to be done. Until then you'll get some dupes during a slow sync.
I will try to get to another round of reverse engineering Outlook weirdness shortly.
Cheers.

I am running into the dupes quite a bit too. Seems everything works fine until a slow sync. What causes the server to request a slow sync? And is there any way to bypass the request so we don't get dupes?
If I knew what caused them I would avoid it like the plague. My frustration comes with Google Calendars. Your Remove Event Duplicates fixes 99% of the problems with my clients like outlook and such, but it doesn't remove the dupes from google and I can't figure out an easy way within google calendars to remove multiple appointments.

It should also remove them from Google.
I've added a task to look into this after the webapps are released (soon).
What causes the server to request a slow sync?
1. A previous sync failed or did not complete successfully.
2. You are syncing a new device.
3. You deleted a device from the SWorld preferences page, then sync'd.
4. You manually initiated a new sync.
That should be it. It may be that you have not noticed #1 happening.
Cheers.

Thanks for the reply. It must have failed a sync as it was working for a few days and then out of the blue it happened. I will watch the logs. And with the google dupes that aren't getting deleted, it is only the all day appointments that are not deleting. One of them is linked to the outlook appt and one isn't. If I delete the 'right' one in outlook then it pushes the delete to google cal, but if I delete the 'wrong' one then the dupe stays in google, and I haven't figured out an easy way to tell the 'right' from 'wrong' one.
I have backups now and within 1/2 hour I can reset everything so I can be patient until the web apps are finished. Looking forward to seeing them. Thanks for all the work you do here. As I mentioned, it seems to work 99% better and offers a lot more features then most paid services.
