Is it possible to only sync specific categories of events on my calender in Outlook to SW?

Not in that direction as that's up to the client.
SW -> Outlook you have full control over: SWorld preferences -> Edit Settings -> calendars/miscellaneous

And the current client for Windows XP/Outlook doesn't support it, correct?
